Master Drift Diving Techniques and Procedures
In the Drift Diver Specialty Course, you’ll gain essential skills to enjoy the thrill of drifting with the current. Along with learning drift diving techniques and safety procedures, you’ll:
Course Highlights:
- Introduction to Drift Diving Equipment: Familiarize yourself with essential drift diving gear, including floats, lines, and reels, to enhance your underwater experience.
- Understanding Aquatic Currents: Gain insights into the causes and effects of aquatic currents, helping you navigate and utilize them effectively during your dives.
- Hands-On Practice: Participate in two exhilarating drift dives where you’ll practice buoyancy control, navigation, and communication skills in real-world scenarios.
- Buddy and Group Techniques: Learn effective strategies for staying close to your dive buddy or group while floating with the current, ensuring safety and enjoyment.
- Earn Adventure Dive Credit: The first dive of this Specialty Diver Course can count as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification. Be sure to ask your instructor about earning credit for this dive!

When can I start this course?
Get a Drift Diver Course online link to start your speciality course, once complete you can start your practical with your instructor

- We will provide all your gear for the course
- If you need equipment, our retail shop has a wide variety of gear to suit your needs and budget
- Course duration is three (3) days
- No Medical Requirements (Unless there is mayor health issues)
- Medical declaration to be completed on site before the course starts
- Fee Payment will be required prior to starting your course
- Online Component will also need to be completed prior to start date
- At the end of the course you will receive a notification and receive your DRIFT DIVE SPECIALITY certification on your SSI profile
Gear Required for Drift Diver Course
Along with your basic scuba equipment, you’ll learn to use various surface marker buoys and floats with lines and reels. Ask your Instructor at Gold Coast Dive Centre staff about other equipment you may need to get the most of your drift dives.
