Achieving the Divemaster rating is a prestigious recognition of your knowledge, skills, and experience in scuba diving. Did you know that fewer than 2% of divers reach this elite status in their lifetime? The Divemaster rating demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of a certified assistant, setting you apart in the diving community.
SSI Training Process
Before You Start
- Book Your SSI Dive Leader Course: Secure your spot by making a payment. Once registered in the SSI System, you can begin your Dive Leader Digital Learning Material.
- Self-Paced Learning: Access your course materials anytime, anywhere through the MySSI app, allowing you to complete your training at your convenience.
Classroom and In-Water Training
- Academic Classes: Attend engaging sessions covering the Science of Diving and Dive Guide concepts.
- Exams: Complete a written exam to test your knowledge.
- Certifications: Upon completion, earn your Science of Diving and Professional Dive Guide Certifications.
Practical Application
- Fitness Evaluation: Assess your physical readiness for diving.
- Workshops: Participate in various workshops, including:
- Snorkeling Skills Workshop
- Open Water Skills Workshop
- Diver Stress & Rescue Workshop
- Deep and Night Diving Workshop
- Evaluation: Complete Dive Briefing and Dive Guiding evaluations to ensure you’re ready for real-world scenarios.

Requirements to Enroll
To qualify for the Divemaster Course, you must:
- Be 18 years or older
- Hold a Diver Stress & Rescue certification
- Maintain current First Aid and CPR and Oxygen Provider certifications (can be obtained at Gold Coast Dive Centre for an additional fee)
- Have at least 5 logged dives in the following areas: deep diving, navigation, night diving, and limited visibility
- Complete a medical declaration form before the course. Any medical issues will require a doctor’s certificate.
- Hold Professional Liability Insurance
- Maintain an SSI Active Status
